On Wednesday, November 17, 2010, the Canadian
Osteoporosis Patient Network (COPN) hosted its fifth virtual education forum on the topic of nutrition and
osteoporosis. The forum was moderated by Tanya Long, National Education Manager, Osteoporosis Canada, and
co-led by dietitians Anna Pohorecky and Wendy Borody. It was accessed by osteoporosis patients, caregivers
and healthcare professionals across Canada.
The presentation offered valuable information about nutrition in bone development; the role, requirement and
sources of calcium; types of supplements and the importance of vitamin D. Anna and Wendy also shared a tasty
“Salmon Loaf” recipe that has bone building nutrients. Download the recipe
here.
Thank you to our presenters Anna and Wendy for presenting such valuable information and for highlighting the
important role nutrition plays in living well with osteoporosis. Thank you to our moderator, participants and
to the Dairy Famers of Canada for their sponsorship!
