Speaking of Bones is the national
speakers' program of Osteoporosis Canada. Speakers are available in many communities to address your
community group or local business about osteoporosis for a nominal fee, depending on your status as a
for-profit or not-for-profit organization. Speakers come from all walks of life and share a commitment to
educating the public about osteoporosis. Some are health professionals working in the field. Others are
involved through personal experience. All Speaking of Bones volunteers have completed an extensive
osteoporosis training program and are skilled in public speaking. Their presentation, supported by visuals in
PowerPoint or overheads, covers:
-
what osteoporosis is
-
risk factors
-
how osteoporosis is diagnosed
-
what you can do to maintain healthy bones
-
how osteoporosis is treated
-
how to live well with osteoporosis
Our speakers can speak in both workplace and community settings, at formal or informal day or evening
meetings, at "lunch and learns," as well as on weekends. They can participate in programs or conferences you
may be planning.
