Bone China Teas
Osteoporosis Canada defines a Bone China Tea as a community fundraising event, taking place in a public
venue, which generates funds and local attention/awareness for Osteoporosis Canada.
The majority of Bone China Tea's are held during Osteoporosis Month (November) and around mother's day,
but teas are held throughout the year across the country. They can have any number of guests, from 50
to 500 or more.
Bone China Teas may be held in urban centres, suburban areas, or rural areas. The venue for the tea
can be hotel, a senior's residence, a community centre, a club or whatever other venue is available and
suitable for your needs.
Bone China Teas generally have speakers (though some do not). You may either arrange a community
speaker, or ask Osteoporosis Canada to assist in arranging a speaker (if one is available).
Osteoporosis Canada provides a number of materials to aid you in organizing and executing your
event.
Your Bone China Tea can be a formal occasion, with white gloves, hats, and bone china, or a more casual
affair, with jeans and t-shirts and big mugs of tea. It may have a scheduled start and finish, or be an
afternoon-long drop in event.
Your Bone China Tea should reflect the characteristics of your local community. This is your event
and, within the guidelines given here, you may plan it as you see fit.
For further information on the Bone China Tea program please review the Bone China Tea
Guidelines.
