Volunteering - get involved!

Each year, Osteoporosis Canada joins in the celebration of National Volunteer Week. Volunteers truly are the backbone of our organization and their contributions are invaluable. They counsel callers on the 1-800 line, organize and deliver presentations to the community, staff booths at health fairs, participate in fund raising events, perform a multitude administrative tasks, communicate information about living well with osteoporosis, sit on our National Board of Directors or Chapter committees, are members of the Scientific Advisory Council and add their voice to advocacy initiatives.

National Volunteer Week is a special time to honour our valued volunteers who generously offer their time and energy to better the community and the lives of others. A heartfelt thank you to our volunteers for their hard work! If you’re interested in becoming a part of the nationwide effort that’s working to make a real difference to Canadians affected by osteoporosis and at risk of an osteoporotic fracture, please complete our Volunteer Interest Form.

"Volunteering is the most fundamental act of citizenship and philanthropy in our society.  It is offering time, energy and skills of one's own free will.

It is an extension of being a good neighbour, transforming a collection of houses into a community, as people become involved in the improvement of their surroundings and choose to help others.

By caring and contributing to change, volunteers decrease suffering and disparity, while they gain skills, self-esteem, and change their lives.  People work to improve the lives of their neighbours and, in return, enhance their own."
