Can one individual make a difference to a Chapter..to an entire organization? You bet they
can! Osteoporosis Canada is proud to present its National Awards to many deserving volunteers whose
selfless dedication cannot be bought; it has to be earned, cherished and recognized regularly with a sincere
thank you! The Awards Program provides a consistent means to ensure that local volunteers receive
special national attention.
Through obstacles, health concerns, competing demands for time, and the trials and tribulations of daily
life, OC's volunteers continue to show great dedication to the organization and the osteoporosis cause.
Backbone Award
The Backbone Award recognizes the special individuals who, in their own unique way, provide
the strength necessary for both growth and stability. They bring their Chapters to life and motivate
others to reach goals.
Award of Overall Excellence
The Award for Overall Excellence recognizes a Chapter which has excelled over the past year
in the areas of education, volunteer development, fund development, and communications.
Eleanor Mills Inspiration Award
The Eleanor Mills Inspiration Award recognizes a volunteer who, like Eleanor, has embraced his or
her own osteoporosis, and by doing so has inspired others with his/her determination, perseverance and
optimism, and has given of him/herself to champion the cause.
Our heartfelt thanks goes out to you for all that you do in communities big and small. Those who
plan the Teas, and complete the finance forms - who type out minutes, or who inspire rooms full of people
with their personal stories of triumph over osteoporosis - who answer phone calls and pack pamphlets or who
set the goals that our organization strives to surpass each year...you give the osteoporosis cause its face
and voice in local communities. You give our activities meaning and purpose. And, you uphold our
mission and keep faithful to our vision of knowledge, care and support for all Canadians.
