CaMos is an ongoing, prospective cohort study of 9,423
community-dwelling, randomly-selected women (6539) and men (2884), aged 25 years and older at baseline,
living within 50 km of nine Canadian cities (St Johns, Halifax, Quebec City, Toronto, Hamilton, Kingston,
Saskatoon, Calgary and Vancouver).
It is the premier Canadian study that assesses the burden of osteoporosis and fracture in Canadian women and
men; that identifies factors associated with osteoporosis and fracture which lead to improved diagnosis and
risk reduction; and that measures the health and economic consequences of osteoporosis and fracture. It is
supported by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR), by industry and by charitable
organizations.
