Originally from Sarnia, Ms. Foley holds a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Social Work
from the University of Toronto. She is a senior executive with 17 years experience as an Executive Director
in community based social service and health care organizations. From 1997 to 2006, Julie was the Executive
Director of the Scarborough Community Care Access Centre in Toronto where she managed the CCACs 220 staff and
its Ontario Ministry of Health and Long Term Care funded budget of $65 million. Prior to that, she worked in
Southwestern Ontario and in several communities in Northern Ontario.
Julie has been involved in not-for-profit organizations on a voluntary
basis. Among others, Julie is a Past Member of the Board of Directors of the International Federation of
Social Workers, a Past President of the Canadian Mental Health Association in Sarnia and a Past President of
the Canadian Association of Social Workers.
Julie brings many strengths to the position of President & CEO. She
is strategic in her thinking and is a strong, inclusive leader with excellent management skills. She has
extensive community and government relations experience. Julie enjoys working with a wide variety of staff
members as well as with front line volunteers and Boards of Directors. She has worked in multilevel
organizations in different parts of Ontario, providing her with an appreciation of regional
differences.
Julie is eagerly looking forward to working with the entire
Osteoporosis Canada team, including the many stakeholders who support our mission.
