My husband, Sandy, is the biscuit-maker in our
house, and he swears by this recipe.
Makes 24 biscuits
Preheat oven to 450°F (230°C)
Baking sheet
| 4 cups |
all-purpose baking mix |
1 L |
| 1 ½ cups |
shredded cheddar cheese |
375 mL |
| 1 |
cup milk |
250 mL |
| ¾ tsp |
cayenne pepper |
3 mL |
1. In a large bowl, combine all ingredients until
dough clings together to form a ball. On a floured surface, gently knead dough and roll out to ½-inch (1 cm)
thick.
2. Cut out biscuits using a cookie cutter or the
rim of a glass. Brush with milk and place on baking sheet. Bake in preheated oven for about 10 minutes, or
until golden.
TIP: These biscuits are a great gift idea; simply pack
them in festive tins. For a real kick, Sandy sometimes adds diced jalapeno peppers - but warn your
guests!
