Easy Cheddar Biscuits

My husband, Sandy, is the biscuit-maker in our house, and he swears by this recipe.

Makes 24 biscuits

Preheat oven to 450°F (230°C)
Baking sheet

4 cups all-purpose baking mix 1 L
1 ½ cups shredded cheddar cheese 375 mL
1 cup milk 250 mL
¾ tsp cayenne pepper 3 mL

1. In a large bowl, combine all ingredients until dough clings together to form a ball. On a floured surface, gently knead dough and roll out to ½-inch (1 cm) thick.

2. Cut out biscuits using a cookie cutter or the rim of a glass. Brush with milk and place on baking sheet. Bake in preheated oven for about 10 minutes, or until golden.

TIP: These biscuits are a great gift idea; simply pack them in festive tins. For a real kick, Sandy sometimes adds diced jalapeno peppers – but warn your guests!
