Break through at a glance
Break through at a glance is an education program developed by Osteoporosis Canada and supported with funding from the Ontario Ministry of Health Promotion. This program is currently being offered in select locations across Ontario in partnership with local community organizations. Designed for adults over 50.
Where is it offered?
- The Break Through Program is available through various organizations such as the YMCA. To find your local YMCA, go to http://www.ymca.ca. It is also offered by a wide variety of community seniors’ and fitness facilities throughout Ontario. Check with your local seniors’, fitness or recreation centre.
- In Toronto, the program is available through Parks and Recreation. Go to http://www.toronto.ca/parks/torontofun.
What does the program entail?
- Participants in the program will receive interactive information about bone health and the importance of diet, proper nutrition and physical activity in reducing the risk of osteoporosis and preventing falls. Depending on where the program is being delivered, an exercise component may be included.
